With just six weeks to go until its grand opening, The Lexicon Bracknell has announced eight more top names for the £240 million retail and leisure town centre transformation in Berkshire. The new announcements bring the total to 92% of the scheme, by floor area, now pre-let or agreed. The scheme has announced 11 new signings in the past three weeks, showing the strong interest and momentum ahead of the opening.
UK-based premium lifestyle brand Joules leads a string of new lettings, taking a 2,280 sq ft store. It will be joined by retailers Timberland, Seasalt, Paperchase, The Body Shop, Beauty Base, plus Costa Coffee and F&B operator Prezzo.
Richard Poyser, Retail Leasing Manager for Legal & General, said: “These eight new signings herald the high level of interest and momentum that The Lexicon continues to experience from leading retailers and F&B operators. We’re less than six weeks from the grand opening and we continue to secure an exciting mix of names for Bracknell.”
The Lexicon Bracknell, one of the largest urban regeneration schemes currently being built in the UK, is set to open on 7 September 2017. The architecturally-appealing retail and leisure destination will create a new social and cultural heart for the borough. The town centre transformation will bring the total space to one million sq ft of retail, restaurants and leisure, including the existing, adjacent Princess Square shopping centre.
Joules is joined by Timberland, opening in a 2,300 sq ft unit and Seasalt, the family-run, Cornwall-based clothing, homeware and accessories retailer in a 1,670 sq ft unit. All three have chosen The Avenue, The Lexicon’s premium shopping street, where they will be joined by Paperchase in a 3,875 sq ft store.
The Lexicon’s beauty credentials will be further boosted with the additions of The Body Shop and Beauty Base. The Body Shop, has signed for a 1,520 sq ft unit and high-end premium fragrance and beauty retailer Beauty Base will open in a 2,420 sq ft unit.
Adding to the impressive casual dining collection Costa Coffee and Prezzo will join The Lexicon’s wide menu of restaurants and cafés such as Bill’s Restaurant, PizzaExpress, Carluccio’s and Patisserie Valerie.
Costa Coffee will be opening a 2,035 sq ft café on the corner of the existing High Street and the newly created Braccan Walk. Prezzo has signed a lease for a 3,400 sq ft unit on Eagle Lane.
Jessica Berney, Head of UK Retail at Schroder Real Estate, commented: “These new signings will not only enhance the new retail in the town centre and complement the impressive line-up of casual dining brands, but also boost the lunchtime and evening economy. Along with the 12-screen Cineworld, featuring the only 4DX screen in the Thames Valley, Bracknell town centre is set to become an exciting day-to-night destination.”
The Lexicon Bracknell is being developed by The Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, a 50:50 joint venture between Legal & General Capital and Schroder UK Real Estate Fund, working in partnership with Bracknell Forest Council. The joint agents for The Lexicon Bracknell are CBRE and Lunson Mitchenall.
