Award-winning property development company Garrison Barclay Estates has made two senior appointments to its expanding team.
The Cardiff-based firm, headed up by founder Andrew McCarthy, has welcomed director Ian Carter and asset manager Emma Churches as it looks to strengthen the business’s offering.
Mr Carter joins the firm from Cynon Taf Community Housing Group, where he worked as director of development and asset management and was one of the youngest directors of a housing association in Wales. During his time at the social landlord he oversaw the maintenance and development of just under 2,000 homes.
Holding a number of high profile board positions, including a public appointment as a commissioner at the Design Commission for Wales, in his new role at Garrison Barclay, Mr Carter will use his vast experience to identify new opportunities and build on the award-wining company’s existing portfolio.
On his appointment, Mr Carter said: “I am delighted to have joined Garrison Barclay Estates, at a really exciting time for the business.
“It is a company that I feel I can genuinely use my skills and experience to make an impact in, and I look forward to driving growth and expanding on its diverse property portfolio this year.
“It is a privilege to work alongside Andrew, who has developed an enviable reputation in the property industry. There are a number of projects currently in our sights and I look forward to making these a success.”
His colleague Miss Churches joins the firm from automation software company Copa-Data, where she oversaw two UK offices managing their events, finance, and customer ordering.
In her new Cardiff city centre-based role, she will manage all tenant queries, and oversee building and ground maintenance for tenanted commercial properties.
She said: “This is an exciting time to be joining Garrison Barclay Estates as it looks to drive growth in the firm with a number of projects.
“I would like to thank Andrew for the fantastic opportunity and I look forward to working with Ian also. Looking ahead I aim to build a professional relationship with our tenants to ensure they receive a first-class service from Garrison Barclay.”
The award-winning company, which was established in 1998, specialises in the acquisition and development of commercial, residential and retail projects, having developed over 2.5 million sq. ft. of office and industrial space in its lifetime.
Its founder Mr McCarthy has recently renewed the business’s forward-thinking focus with the addition of both new staff members forming an integral part of that strategy.
He said: “This year has seen extensive growth across Garrison Barclay Estates, which has led to a strengthening of our offering across all aspects of the business.
“We are really pleased to have welcomed Emma and Ian, who have both accrued extensive experience across the industry in their previous roles. Their specialist skill sets are certain to be hugely beneficial to both our tenant services and property portfolio, and we are thrilled with the value they have added to these departments.
“We look forward to working with them going forwards and supporting their development throughout the business.”
