The Bristol office of global real estate specialist Colliers International has taken on a record four sandwich students, after its most successful year in which it posted its highest level of fees and conducted more transactions that ever before.
The four students, have completed their second year of studies at the University of the West of England and will be spending the next 12 months working with various different teams at the office in Templeback, which offers 16 different service lines.
Head of office, Tim Davies, said: “Top-quality training is one of the great strengths of Colliers International, and we are delighted to be able to provide this opportunity to four students from UWE this year.
“This is our highest-ever number of sandwich students, and it has been made possible by the fact that the Bristol Office of Colliers last year achieved record fees from our highest number of transactions ever.
“They will be able to gain hands-on experience in their chosen real-estate specialities, while also discovering what it is like to be part of an international commercial property company.
“A number of previous sandwich students who spent a year with us at the Bristol office of Colliers International have re-joined the company following completion of their studies and are progressing really well with their careers”.
Will Dale, who is studying for a BA in Property Development and Planning, has joined the Rating and Planning teams; Alice Stephens, who is studying for a BSc in Real Estate, is working with the Out of Town Retail and Development teams; Will Robinson, who is also studying BSc Real Estate, is working in Investment Property Management team; and Harry Barlow, who is studying BA Property Development and Planning, is on the Industrial & Logistics team.
Ben Cronan, 22, who last year joined the Bristol office of Colliers International as a sandwich student, said his experience working in the Industrial and Logistics and Planning teams had been invaluable.
“It has been a huge learning curve that has enabled me to put everything I have learned at university into a workplace perspective,” he said.
“I’ve been treated like any other employee rather than as just a placement student. I’ve been pushed hard and I’ve also received excellent pastoral care. I’ve been given responsibilities; I’ve learned how to work as part of a team; and I’ve learned about working with clients.
“I’ve also been given opportunities to do deals, which has been a great experience and made me aware of the trust that those around me at Colliers were prepared to place in me.”
