An Industrial agent has raised over £2,500 for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) by taking part in a military style fitness challenge.
John Sambrooks, Associate Director at DTZ in Birmingham took part in the 10km Major Series event at Weston Park in Staffordshire. Organised by British Military Fitness, runners must battle through mud, water, smoke, hills and various obstacles in order to complete the run.
John took up the challenge, along with friends from the Birmingham British Military Fitness group, after his father was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital over Christmas.
John Sambrooks commented: “As the home of the UK’s Military hospital and because of the fantastic level of care my father received, the QEHB was an obvious and worthy charity to support.
“In spite of the particularly challenging course, I managed to complete it in a respectable 1 hour 45 mins. A big thank you to everyone who has supported me.”
DTZ contributed to the total amount raised as part of its charity matching initiative, whilst the Birmingham Industrial Agents Society (IAS) also donated funds.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity is the official charity of the Queen Elizabeth & Selly Oak hospitals in Birmingham, including the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine where military patients are treated from around the world.
