Construction work has now begun on four new retail / leisure pods at Hull Paragon Railway Station with completion expected by late November of this year.
Transpennine Express is funding the development and has appointed Ryden as sole marketing agent for the terrace style shops which are situated adjacent to the main entrance to the station.
The units range from 120 to 132 sq m (1,291 sq ft to 1,420 sq ft) and are being constructed to a high specification with full height display frontage. The units can be opened up to create a larger accommodation if required. The quoting rent is £55,000 per annum, although the landlord would also consider a turnover rent option.
Dan Hodge, associate at Ryden, comments: “We have already pre-let a unit to Starbucks and have received strong interest in the remaining space since formally launching marketing recently. The units offer retailers a great opportunity to take advantage of a location that has a high and increasing footfall through both railway passengers and the neighbouring bus terminal commuters. I’m confident it won’t be long until we welcome aboard new vendors at the development.”
The retail development is a significant part of Transpennine Express’ £1.4 million upgrade to the station, which also includes construction of a new waiting room and toilet facilities and an overhaul of the existing ticket office and customer service information section. Planning approval for the station’s renovation was approved last year to ensure an impressive welcome to visitors heading to the city for events as part of Hull UK City of Culture 2017.
