Millward has been appointed by construction company The Gelder Group, as civil and structural engineers on a £2.5 million project to build a new fire station on Boundary Road in Newark.
The prestigious design and build scheme, which will include a new station and training tower, will see the current fire station being demolished to make way for the new one. Work has already started on site with the build project scheduled to take around 12 months. Once complete, the new fire station will be able to accommodate two fire engines and a technical rescue unit.
Millward is a nationwide integrated engineering consultancy based in Nottingham. Established in 1993, they provide a range of engineering consultancy services including civil and structural engineering, structural inspections, environmental issues and highways and infrastructure.
Managing director of the company, Nicola Millward, said: “We are thrilled to have been appointed as engineers on this prestigious project in Newark. Having just completed work on the Newark Leisure Centre, it’s great to be working in the town again. The plans for the fire station look amazing and we are very proud to be working on a project that will benefit the fire fighting emergency service team.”
Gelder major contracts director, Kevin Manterfield, said; “We are delighted to be working with Millward on this high profile project. It’s also great to be working with Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue again together with the design team.”
