Property advisor Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed by Derby City Council to sell the city’s former cattle market.
The firm will be marketing the 4.65 hectare (11.48 acres) site to developers for commercial use.
The site was officially launched last week at the Derby Property Summit along with a number of others the Council is bringing to the market.
Located on Chequers Road, the site is one mile from the city centre and in close proximity to the A52 linking Derby with Nottingham. There are a number of buildings on the site which are due to be demolished shortly.
Gemma Constantinou from Cushman & Wakefield’s Industrial agency team, commented: “We are excited to be bringing this excellent commercial development opportunity to the market. The site, which is suitable for industrial, office, leisure and mixed use, is in a key strategic location and could transform the gateway to Derby.”
Due to the unprofitability of the cattle market, Derby City Council took a decision last year to close the facility and dispose of the property.
