UK online travel agent Alpharooms has booked its operations into Meadowhall Business Park in Sheffield following a company restructure.
The Sheffield firm, which specialises in selling hotel rooms and carries 850,000 passengers annually, is the latest high profile company to lease office space at the newly-refurbished business park.
Alpharooms, established in 2002, needed new premises for its 11-strong operations team after it was sold for an undisclosed sum to London-based Truly Holdings Ltd in August last year.
The company, which employs 130 staff nationally and internationally, has taken a 10-year lease on 3,750 sq ft at ARBA Group’s 70,000 sq ft Meadowhall Business Park which will complement its Uxbridge and Hyderabad operations.
Emma Lelliott, head of sales and operations at Alpharooms, said: “Alpharooms is a well-known brand in both the UK & Ireland and has been trading successfully online for over 15 years at our base on Ecclesall Road in Sheffield.
“Meadowhall Business Park offers us a fantastic location. The space has been designed specifically to suit our needs with open plan offices, a boardroom and separate smaller offices which is much better than our previous base. Amenities surrounding the park including places to eat and shop are superb with Meadowhall on the doorstep and parking. It is also much more accessible for our staff, many of whom travel from Rotherham.”
In 2008 Alpharooms, Abta member and ATOL licence holder, was named as one of the UK’s fastest growing firms in the Real Business/LDC Hot 100 league table. Alpharooms was shirt sponsor for Sheffield United’s promotion-winning campaign last season and its parent company Teletext Holidays will continue to sponsor the Blades’ Championship season 2017-18.
Alpharooms join construction company NG Bailey, health screening service Preventx, surveyors Auburn Ainsley, photography and makeover studio Chique Photography, Eaton Commercial Property Consultants Ltd, Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining (Holdings) Limited and North Midlands Construction Plc as tenants.
All five of the business park’s buildings are undergoing complete refurbishment including exterior cladding on each block, with much of the space already under offer via joint appointed agents Knight Frank and Campbell & Co.
Richard Burns, director at ARBA Group, said: “The quality and flexibility of the office space, and being able to let tenants choose and plan their space has proved extremely successful.
“These are city centre facilities but which offer out of town rates. Combined with the nearby associated development, Meadowhall Shopping Centre and transport links we have seen very strong interest in the park with further announcements to be made shortly.”
Meadowhall Business Park is located less than one mile from junction 34 of the M1, two miles west of Junction 33 of the M1 and within six and 25 miles of the M1/M18 intersection and the M1/M62 intersection respectively. Joint agents on the park are Knight Frank and Campbell & Co.
