A commanding former water board office block complete with full height architectural columns in the heart of Merthyr Tydfil has been snapped up at auction.
Porticoed Taf Fechan Office at Castle Street, Merthyr Tydfil which dates from 1932 sold for £150,000 after being listed at Paul Fosh Auctions with a guide price of £130,000.
The red brick road side three storey town centre building was originally constructed for the Taf Fechan Water Board before becoming offices for the Welsh National Water development Authority latterly Welsh Water.
More recently the impressive brick built Greek column fronted building, which has a total area of 4,927 sq feet has been used as a call centre.
There are eight offices on the ground floor, a large conference room with stunning decorative ceiling on the first floor with five offices. There is storage in the basement and a small rear yard.
Paul Fosh, of Paul Fosh Auctions, said: “This is a very impressive commanding building that could be suitable for conversion to flats or other commercial uses subject to planning.
“The new owner has acquired what is a considerable amount of property for the £150,000 that it sold for at auction.”
