Barker Storey Matthews’ Cambridge office has let the Bertarelli Building in Bourn, South Cambridgeshire to Phico Therapeutics – a biotechnology company undertaking pioneering research and development (R&D) work in the field of new generation antibiotics.
The Bertarelli Building is a self-contained 14,610 sq ft building located within the secure campus setting of the world renowned Bourn Hall IVF and fertility treatment clinic, Bourn Hall Fertility Clinic, on whose behalf Barker Storey Matthews acted in securing Phico Therapeutics on a 10-year lease basis.
Facilities across the three floors of the Bertarelli Building are purpose-built for the conduct of drug development and clinical research and, as such, meet high R&D industry standards. The building hosts laboratories, offices and storage space.
Confirming the let to Phico Therapeutics, Ben Green, Director at Barker Storey Matthews, commented, “The letting of the Bertarelli Building enables yet another pioneering company to expand within Cambridge’s active biotech cluster.
“Ideal for biotech companies seeking a campus in the company of pioneering peers, the Bertarelli Building offers the additional benefits of a leafy setting, close to the amenities of the established village of Bourn yet with convenient access to Cambridge city itself and the other high profile scientific campuses located around South Cambridgeshire.”
Dr Heather Fairhead, CEO of Phico, commented, “I am very pleased to have secured the lease of the Bertarelli Building. I believe the purpose-built facility, in the wonderful environment at Bourn, will help Phico achieve its next phase of growth to deliver innovative antibacterial products into clinical development.”
