Commercial property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton (LSH) has appointed experienced fund manager Ross Owen as Chairman of LSH Investment Management (LSHIM) in a strategic move to strengthen its property acquisition and asset management services for clients.
Owen joins LSHIM from Cluttons Capital Partners where he was Chief Executive since 2008, leading a team and providing strategic investment advice to fund management clients and international investors, particularly in the Middle East. In recent years, Owen has extended his experience to cover social infrastructure investments within the alternatives sector.
With over £500m assets under management, client portfolios included All Souls College, Oxford, Associated British Ports Pension Scheme, the Representative Body for the Church in Wales and John Lyon’s Charity. Under his stewardship, each of his client mandates have benefitted from outperformance with returns ahead of the market indices over one, three and five-year periods.
Managed by Chris Hornung, Managing Director, LSHIM has grown rapidly over the last 12 months. From a standing start the business has secured over £300m of mandates. With experience across all business cycles, Owen will work closely with Hornung to further develop LSHIM’s big picture thinking and deal making.
Ezra Nahome, CEO at Lambert Smith Hampton, said: “As always we like to be ahead of the game, quickly responding to market changes and seeking out opportunities to secure best-in-class people to join our team. The depth and breadth of Ross’s expertise will be a great asset for LSHIM. We look forward to his contribution and guidance as we seek to deliver the company’s long-term strategic objectives.”
Ross Owen, added: “The British government continues to support investment in regional infrastructure and housing supply and this presents a real opportunity for LSH; particularly with its excellent national coverage, strong client relationships and unrivalled reputation for solid consultancy and agency advice.
“I’m confident that I will bring a broad understanding of markets to LSHIM, which will help guide how our funds can develop their strategies to the best advantage. Fund management is all about teamwork – you need to have a strong group of professionals around you to make the most of any investment portfolio and this includes trusted, best-in-class consultants.”
LSH Investment Management retains operational independence from LSH and provides a specialist property acquisition and asset management service for institutional investors, family offices and private clients. Its investors are able to benefit from LSH’s ability to source off-market opportunities through its network of 34 regional offices across the UK as well as LSH Investment Management’s own extensive network of contacts.
