Global tech scale-up chooses Reading’s The White Building for UK expansion

Lambert Smith Hampton and US based partners, T3 Advisors, have secured new offices for global tech scale-up Carbon Black at The White Building in Reading town centre. This takes the number of occupiers at the Boultbee Brooks Real Estate/CBRE Global Investors owned building to five. The Massachusetts head-quartered business has chosen The White Building as the base from which to drive its UK expansion.

Carbon Black is the global leader in endpoint security and has acquired 5,410 sq ft at £35.00 per sq ft on a ten year lease. The fast-growth business joins Work.Life, the co-working brand, demonstrating Reading’s position as a significant tech hub that is attracting inward investment.

Nick Coote, head of Thames Valley for Lambert Smith Hampton, explains: “Reading is globally recognised as a tech hub, with great connectivity, transport and talent at its heart and we’re seeing the region continue to attract international companies, right across the tech eco-system. While multinationals like Microsoft, Oracle and Cisco have long understood the benefits of Reading and home-grown talent like Artesian and Sage People are flourishing, it’s great to see this new breed of tech company being attracted here too.”

Mark Reeves, EMEA VP of Sales at Carbon Black, adds: “Our strong employee-first culture is the key to our success. Having a great place to work is a major part of this and The White Building really felt like a natural home for us as we grow in the UK. We already feel like part of a community, keeping great company with our peers as well as exciting grassroots start-ups.”

Guy Parkes, director at RARE, comments: “The space and atmosphere at The White Building is electric. The building sets itself apart with its inspiring blend of wood, steel, concrete and glass and as it fills up, we are experiencing a real buzz and collaborative vibe between the occupiers and visitors. The resounding feedback we receive from prospective tenants is: “I really want to work here!”

The 93,000 sq ft building completed in March and is 70% let or under offer with 31,000 sq ft remaining. Carbon Black joins Herjavec, Pharmcosmos and Work.life with a further two tenants under offer.
