St John’s College and development partner Turnstone Cambridge Developments, together with contractor VINCI Construction UK, marked the start of work on an exciting new office/r&d building in Cambridge with a special on site ceremony.
The five-storey Maurice Wilkes building on St John’s Innovation Park will be the first of its kind to be delivered on a speculative basis within the city’s northern cluster for over a decade.
Scheduled for completion by June 2018, the Maurice Wilkes Building will provide 64,445 sq ft of Grade A space with suites from 6,454 sq ft and will feature an impressive part-double height reception area and roof terrace.
The building has already secured a pre-let with award winning cyber security specialist Dark Trace signing for the top two floors.
Suzie Wood at St John’s College says: “The Maurice Wilkes Building will set new standards in the Cambridge office market and we are delighted to be on site with our contractor VINCI Construction UK. There are three floors comprising 44,632 sq ft available and the building will be completed Summer 2018.”
Chris Goldsmith of Turnstone added: “We are delighted to be working with St John’s on this prestigious development. Although we still have more than 12 months to go to completion the level of occupational interest is most encouraging.”
The building is located at the centre of the North Cambridge Research and Development cluster. Connections will be further improved this year with the arrival of the new railway station and extended guided busway serving the cluster.
