Four of the units at Newark East are under offer – totalling some 30,000 sq ft, 42 per cent of the available space – and there is strong, qualified interest registered in a number of other units, confirms Barker Storey Matthews- the agent under instruction at one of Peterborough’s newest commercial developments.
Newark East on Cobblestone Way, Newark Road is Peterborough’s first speculative industrial development for almost a decade in the city’s Eastern Industry district. Planning permission for the new-build commercial scheme was secured by Barker Storey Matthews in summer 2016 and, on being appointed as the commercial agent under instruction too, the development was launched to market last autumn (2016).
Ready for occupation from this summer (2017), units from 1,800 sq ft to 26,000 sq ft are available to let at Newark East with all giving good visibility to Newark Road as well as offering generous parking allocations. All units are fitted with offices, cloakroom facilities, LED lighting throughout and electronically operated loading doors. According to the agent, eaves heights of 6m and 8m give scope to rack out to a good height or to add mezzanine floors.
Commenting on activity at Newark East, Richard Jones, Director at Barker Storey Matthews, said, “Eastern Industry, Fengate is a well-established industrial area of Peterborough and has become a mixed-use area including car showrooms, trade counters, retail and industrial warehouse, building supplies and leisure occupiers.
“There has been no speculative industrial development scheme in this area of Peterborough since 2008. Much has changed in the way businesses trade and in how customers and suppliers interact during the past decade.
“In terms of estate layout and calibre of commercial premises offered at Newark East, the availability of purpose built industrial, warehouse and distribution units to let is something today’s industrial occupiers are keen to see.”
