intu has announced the signing of The Light Cinemas as its first leisure anchor for the redevelopment of intu Broadmarsh.
The operator has committed to a 32,000 sq ft, 9 screen cinema on a 25 year lease, and will be positioned alongside other leisure units and restaurants, creating a new leisure hub in the south of the city.
Martin Breeden, development director at intu commented: “This is another important step forward for the transformation of intu Broadmarsh where detailed design work, tendering and enabling work is busily going on behind the scenes before the planned start of the main works towards the end of this year. We visited a number of the new cinemas that The Light has opened across the UK and believe they offer a fresh approach with great service so we are really looking forward to it opening in intu Broadmarsh.”
The Light is a unique, premium cinema experience offering exciting, highly inclusive, venues at the heart of the UK’s towns and cities.
“For us it’s important that we focus our attention on great city centre locations where we’re able to capture the imagination of our customers through contemporary interior design, which in turn, creates an exciting environment and place to be. The redevelopment of intu Broadmarsh is something we’re excited about, and allows us to bring our vision to life for the people of Nottingham”, said Keith Pullinger, co-founder and CEO of The Light.
The redevelopment of intu Broadmarsh will complement the existing retail and leisure offering at intu Victoria Centre as well as the wider city. intu has worked with Nottingham City Council to align with their vision and to ensure that the development works in collaboration with the rest of the city, improving access and connectivity throughout.
