Edinburgh Woollen Mill has opened its fourth high street store in Cornwall, after leasing the ground floor retail unit at 38/39 Market Place in Penzance. The tweed and knitwear retailer already has outlets in St Ives, Bodmin and Carnon Downs near Truro.
The new store is in an attractive period building on The Terrace, a raised walkway in the heart of Penzance’s retail centre. The unit provides 3,624 sq ft of ground floor sales space and with ancillary accommodation on the first floor.
The retail chain has taken the unit on a new six year lease at a rent of £35,000 per annum. The store opening is believed to have created around three new jobs.
Tom Duncan, associate at property consultancy Alder King which acted for the local landlord, said: “The arrival of Edinburgh Woollen Mill is very good news for the town. The brand actively seeks retail sites in attractive market towns and tourist destinations. Its decision to open in Penzance will help maintain the vitality of the town centre as well as create a number of new jobs.”
