A team of 12 cyclists from property consultancy JLL in Bristol have embarked on a 300-mile journey to raise money for charity.
They are heading west from the JLL Bristol office to Dublin via the valleys of South Wales, raising funds for Smile with Siddy, a small Bristol-based charity raising awareness and funding research in the city for Neuroblastoma, a cancer that affects children.
The first day alone is more than 100 miles with over 8,000 sq ft of climbing and includes the Dragon route, which is one of the top 10 climbs in the UK. The cycling team have set themselves a target of raising £15,000 for Smile with Siddy, and would appreciate any donation, however small.
Giles Weir, Director, JLL, commented: “This is set to be a tough challenge. It’s not just the hills that will be hard work but the Welsh and Irish weather will add another dimension. Supporting such an amazing local charity will keep us going, and we are thrilled that our fundraising will make such a difference to Smile with Siddy.”
Flora Cahill, from Smile with Siddy, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen to benefit from JLL fundraising this year. It means a great deal to us to see the lads out training in all weathers in order to raise vital funds for research into aggressive children’s cancer Neuroblastoma. The money raised will help us to fund further research and help us to spread awareness of childhood cancer symptoms in Bristol. We are incredibly grateful to all the wonderful folks working hard to raise funds for us.”
If you would like to sponsor the team (either corporately or individually) you can do so via their JustGiving page.
