The first in a series of exclusive courses at Shropshire’s new training academy is expected to be a sell-out event, bosses said today.
Kevin Parr, a top salesman and international marketing guru who is a regular face in front of world-class business owners, will officially launch the training course programme at The Academy in Shrewsbury on April 23.
Bosses behind the new training centre on Old Potts Way today said that Mr Parr’s course on “enhancing your networking skills” is an essential offering to the business community after he “entertained” more than 100 people at the Telford Business Expo last month.
The Academy is run alongside Shropshire Chamber of Commerce but is a separate business and has its own focus in terms of business services and unique member benefits.
Toby Poulsom, Principal Consultant at The Academy, said every training course was carefully chosen and designed to ensure the attendees would learn new practical skills that could be implemented to leverage business improvement.
“Kevin Parr is an international speaker and has a fantastic pedigree in selling.
“We had excellent feedback to the presentation Kevin delivered at the recent Expo and had immediate enquiries about any forthcoming commitments in the county.
“His style is engaging, fresh and, perhaps most importantly, very provocative. His belief is that passion and fun generates success.
“He is guaranteed to get people thinking in a new way and above all the tips, tricks and tools he will give people will deliver results,” Mr Poulsom said.
Mr Parr, who is renowned for his humour and energy, is one of the top speakers recommended by The Academy For Chief Executives and has also been working with the World CEO forum in Dubai.
Mr Sheehan, Managing Director of Shropshire Chamber said: “Networking in Shropshire is booming and is a vital part of business.
“When it’s done properly, networking is easy, fun and extremely effective. In fact an effective network is seen as one of the fastest and most cost effective ways to grow a business and Kevin will be teaching people how to do just that.
“Business owners in Shropshire will get the exclusive chance to learn from one of the best in the world.”
Mr Parr’s course will run from 10am to 2.30pm with a “working” lunch with networking exercises.
The training course programme will continue with a communications and presentation skills workshop on April 26 and a DIY PR training course on April 30.
Toby Poulsom, who is running The Academy, said that members have been given a choice of benefits when joining The Academy, including the chance to attend a training course of choice for free. The Academy also offers board room and theatre room hire, along with a wi-fi lounge, consultative services and personal and business coaching.
