Leading property consultancy CBRE has secured two new international tenants for the renowned former George Hotel at 235 Buchanan Street on behalf of Hines UK.
British global fashion brand New Look Retailers has taken the entire ground floor of the property, spanning 5,270 sq ft, on a new ten year lease to accommodate its first standalone New Look Menswear outlet in Scotland.
In addition restaurant Vapiano has taken 11,000 sq ft of space on the first floor on a new 25 year lease. The German-owned dining chain, which specialises in fresh, high quality Italian cuisine and operates over 150 establishments worldwide, will incorporate a stunning new entrance vestibule to its design.
Comprising approximately 36,000 sq ft over four levels, the building benefits from a high profile position on Buchanan Street, Scotland’s premier shopping thoroughfare. Situated directly adjacent to the hugely popular Buchanan Galleries shopping centre and Buchanan Quarter development, the building offers extensive display frontage to thousands of shoppers.
Euan McGonigle, associate director in CBRE’s Retail team, said: “Units of this nature are rarely available in the heart of Glasgow’s shopping district and it’s fantastic to have secured two new tenants for this unique opportunity.
“New Look Menswear will be a welcome addition to Glasgow’s premier shopping destination and we are thrilled it has chosen this location for its first Scottish store.
“Vapiano will bring something different to the city with its new fast casual high quality dining concept. We are delighted to have been able to attract both of them to this site at the top end of Buchanan Street.”
CBRE acted for the landlord Hines UK whilst Vapiano was represented by Jackson Criss. New Look was unrepresented. Both occupiers are due to commence fit-out works shortly.
