The legal profession is not traditionally viewed as the most high-tech sector – but one Midlands law firm is looking to break the mould.
Coventry-based Band Hatton was established in 1896 and is one of the oldest legal practices in the city – yet it is one of the first to launch an innovative new range of legal services online under the banner Band Hatton Online.
Band Hatton Online allows clients to submit legal documents via the internet before they are thoroughly checked by a member of the firm’s legal team. The approach not only saves time but also provides a method of avoiding potentially uncomfortable or upsetting situations associated with matters such as divorce.
Mark Moseley, practice director at Band Hatton, said: “The legal profession is sometimes categorised as being a bit stuffy and stuck in its ways – but the way Band Hatton operates will hopefully challenge that perception.
“We understand that people increasingly have less free time, and while they are able to access services such as banking and insurance online, that has not been the case when it comes to legal matters.
“Band Hatton Online provides all of the professionalism, experience and expertise of our highly qualified legal team combined with the convenience of being able to utilise these services from the comfort of your own home or office.”
Internet users can now access a whole range of services online without the need to take time out of their schedule to visit a lawyer in person. Services available include online divorce, wills, employment documents and commercial services.
The Station Square-based firm has also expanded its workforce as a result – recruiting IT specialist George Campbell, from Narborough in Leicestershire, to head up the maintenance and delivery of the services.
He said: “I am delighted to have joined the team here at Band Hatton, especially as I have arrived in time to be part of something as innovative as the launch of Band Hatton Online.
“The aim is to make these services as accessible and user-friendly as possible for existing and potential clients.
“I will be working hard with my colleagues to ensure we deliver the highest possible quality of service and maintain the firm’s reputation for delivering the best levels of client satisfaction.”
