A Shropshire-based training provider is looking forward to moving in to a new state of the art facility which will support its continued growth and allow it to provide further training to those entering the workplace for the first time; for those returning to work; and for those needing to further upskill their existing workforce. Legal advice on the lease was provided by David Raymont of FBC Manby Bowdler’s commercial property team.
SBC Training, which was formed 35 years ago in Whitchurch, has most recently been based in a unit on Harlescott Lane in Shrewsbury but will soon relocate to new-build premises nearby on Vanguard Way and as Colin Thaw, Managing Director explains, the move can’t come soon enough:
“We’ve always been passionate about the quality of training which we deliver and focus on ensuring that both learners and employers can quantify the benefit of what they’re investing in with us. We offer training across business management, health and social care and across technical areas too and it’s been the growth in demand, in particular, for training in engineering, manufacturing and electrical skills that has led to our phenomenal growth in recent years.
“To ensure that we’re always at the forefront of our offer we recently invested in two specialist CNC machines for the training workshop but these put additional strain on the space available in our existing base. We were, therefore, delighted to discover the new build unit nearby on Vanguard Way after looking in to alternative sites for a while.”
The new facility, which is currently being fitted out to SBC’s exact requirements, not only offered the floor space that the expanding business required, but also plenty of carparking for students and a mezzanine floor which will allow for office accommodation away from the training and workshop space on the ground floor. Its prime location will also create great visibility amongst existing and future neighbours on the growing trade business park.
David Raymont, an Associate in FBC Manby Bowdler’s Shrewsbury based Commercial Property team worked with the SBC team to support them through both the relinquishment of their existing lease and securing the new one. He comments:
“The quality of the training delivered by SBC is evident in the rate at which they’ve grown and their vision to continuing expanding and investing in modern and market-leading equipment meant that larger premises were vital. It wasn’t, however, until the high specification unit on Vanguard Park became available that all their boxes were ticked.
“I don’t doubt that they will continue to go from strength to strength and look forward to working with Colin and the team more in the future.”
Colin concludes:
“Having searched for the right premises for a number of years, we were delighted to discover Vanguard Park. However, the solicitor we had previously engaged with had retired by the time we did so we were faced with sourcing new legal support.
“David and the FBC Manby Bowdler team came to us on personal recommendation and we’ve been very pleased with the decision we made to appoint them. David demonstrates the utmost in efficiency whilst continuing to be approachable. He is readily available to respond to our questions and has been a genuine support throughout this process. We’re very much looking forward to a long term working relationship with FBC Manby Bowdler now we’ve discovered them.”
SBC Training plans to launch its new facility at the start of April 2017.
