The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership has revealed its full schedule of events for the international property exhibition in Cannes, held from Tuesday 14 to Friday 17 March.
The bold programme seeks to make the brand new Manchester Pavilion the hub of conversation and relationship-building over the four days of MIPIM, building on the city’s long-standing commitment to the global event.
In the most high-profile event yet for the city at MIPIM, Manchester will play a central role in the MIPIM City Investment Forum on Tuesday 14 March. Held in the Grand Auditorium in the Palais des Festivals, a keynote address will feature Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council; Marty Edelman, Executive Chairman of Manchester Life Development Company; and Sir Edward Lister, Chairman of the Homes & Communities Agency.
Moderated by global cities expert Greg Clark, the panel will explore the strategic planning and visionary partnerships that have put Manchester at the vanguard of urban regeneration and development. Representatives from the partnership behind the transformative Manchester Life Development Company – the Abu Dhabi United Group and Manchester City Council – will provide unique insights into both urban regeneration and strategic value creation opportunities.
Greg Clark will also join the Manchester Pavilion for a series of Breakfast Sessions aimed at creating a more diverse and inclusive dialogue featuring key UK and European thought leaders. Focussing on the themes of Brexit, Housing, and Science respectively, the events will welcome senior speakers from Greater London Authority, Stockholm Business Region, City of Amsterdam, Berlin’s Tegal Projekt GmbH and Barcelona City Council.
In the first of the Morning Stand Sessions (10:30 each day), Eamonn Boylan, recently named chief executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, will be joined by Steve Rumbelow of Rochdale Council and Theresa Grant of Trafford Council in a presentation on the Greater Manchester Industrial Strategy.
The Wednesday morning Stand Session will provide an update on Manchester Place from Paul Beardmore (Manchester Place), Gavin Taylor (Far East Consortium International Ltd), and Jon Matthews (5plus Architects). On Thursday, John Hughes of Ask Real Estate Limited will present alongside Ian Simpson of SimpsonHaugh on an upcoming scheme at Manchester Central (Thursday, 10:30).
Afternoon Stand Sessions (15:45 each day) will provide updates on three of Manchester’s most highly anticipated developments. On Tuesday Bruntwood’s Chris Oglesby will be joined by Select Property Group’s Ken Knott and Helen White to discuss the latest on Circle Square, while Wednesday will see football legend and property developer Gary Neville returning to MIPIM to talk through progress on St. Michael’s. On Thursday a virtual tour will reveal the latest plans for St. John’s, including an overview of The Factory Manchester.
In total, the programme is made up of 23 events, all of which have been spearheaded by members of the Partnership.
Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council said:
“It’s a great pleasure to be able to reveal the most diverse, exciting and stimulating programme Manchester has ever brought to MIPIM.
“Back in September Manchester announced that it had bold new plans for MIPIM 2017, and it’s very rewarding to see them taking shape. It’s now clear that the brand new venue for 2017 will be fittingly matched with a comprehensive package of events, reflecting the scale of Manchester’s global ambitions.
“I’m looking forward to accompanying the Partnership to MIPIM next month as we work together to further Manchester’s prominence on the world stage.”
Manchester at MIPIM will bring 112 companies and over 250 delegates to Cannes in March in what is expected to be one of the largest city delegations in attendance.
