A well known biomass recycling plant located on the Pengarnddu Industrial Estate on the A465 is to be sold by online auction by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, which has recently been successful in regaining control over the property through court action.
The green energy recycling complex lies within an elevated 6.5 acre site on the busy Pengarnddu estate, alongside the A465 Heads Of The Valleys Road at Dowlais Top.
National property consultancy Lambert Smith Hampton is marketing and selling the plant via online auction at www.lshauctions.co.uk, with the bidding period taking place in March 2017. The guide price is £10,000.
The property is arranged as a main office and industrial building incorporating a Biomass gasification CHP Plant believed to have a rated output of 1,000Kwe, with two Jenbacher CHP engines and generators. The remainder of the site provides recycling and sorting areas.
An engineer’s report on the condition of the plant is to be included in the legal pack.
The site is expected to be sold to an operator already active in the recycling and green energy business to maximize the site potential.

“Rather than the traditional ballroom auction, which has worked very well for Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council on previous occasions, an online auction method has been chosen for this particular site – this process allows for a longer period to do essential homework on the site, as well as extended bidding, which gives potential buyers extra time to consider increasing their bid.”
