The Swindon branch of the Academy of Music and Sound, which offers specialist music education and training to aspiring musicians, producers and music professionals, has relocated into new premises in Swindon town centre, after agreeing terms with property consultants Alder King.
The move has given the Academy enhanced teaching facilities, improved public access to public transport for students travelling from outside of Swindon, and opportunities for students to perform at events and venues in the town centre.
The new centre at 1 Milton Road is currently undergoing a refit before its official opening on 30th January. When complete it will feature dedicated vocal, drums, guitar and bass classrooms, rehearsal rooms, a live performance room, recording studio, an Apple iMac suite as well as a kitchen and student lounge.
James Gregory, partner at Alder King’s Swindon office, commented: “We’re delighted to have helped facilitate this move which will provide enhanced teaching and rehearsal facilities for students and staff, and enable them to contribute to the musical life of the town centre.”
The Academy signed a new 10 year lease on 4,933 sq ft of ground and first floor office accommodation at 1 Milton Road. Alder King acted for the private landlord; The Academy of Music & Sound was unrepresented.
Founded in 1994, the Academy has since grown into a nationwide organisation with seven centres in key locations around the UK.
