Property agents Alder King and JLL, acting on behalf of Ashville, have sold a circa four acre greenfield site at Hampton Park West, south of Melksham in Wiltshire, to Dick Lovett Companies for a flagship Jaguar Land Rover dealership.
Plans for the 54,000 sq ft dual car brand showroom, and the creation of 150 new jobs, were warmly welcomed by Wiltshire Council which recently gave the scheme planning consent. Construction work will get underway shortly, with completion expected in late 2017.
The development will include an 18 new car showroom fronting Commerce Way and an eight used car showroom facing the A350, split by a state of the art sales and aftersales suite with a lounge complete with barista bar and children’s play area. The scheme also includes a supporting workshop and internal car wash facility, and a suite of executive offices.
The development, sitting on land to the north of the Milk Churn public house, will be of the highest quality design, with prominent frontage to both the A350 and the inner estate roads.
Martin Baker, senior surveyor of Alder King in Swindon negotiated the transaction on behalf of Ashville. He said: “In a market with limited availability, this site was notable for its prominent location and superb road frontage. It will make an excellent prestige dealership for Dick Lovett and a new gateway building for Melksham.
“The successful disposal of this site, the strong take-up at the adjacent Ashville Centre and the news that the final plot on the Park is the subject of a planning application for a new Travelodge, Greggs and Starbucks is proof that Hampton Park West is fulfilling its potential as one of Wiltshire’s most successful and thriving business locations.”
Spencer Crowder, development director at Ashville, commented: “We are delighted to have concluded this transaction with Dick Lovett and are proud to be working on the final phase at The Ashville Centre, bringing the scheme to a successful conclusion. We can now turn our attention to new acquisitions in 2017.”
Celebrating 50 years in 2016, Dick Lovett has grown to become one of the South West’s leading automotive retailers, representing some of the motoring industry’s biggest and most prestigious manufacturers. Well known for their Porsche and Ferrari dealerships in Swindon, they are also the longest running BMW partners in the UK, continuously since 1968. This new development provides an opportunity to expand its range of brands.
