The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership has announced that over 100 organisations will be representing Manchester at Cannes in March, the largest backing in the Partnership’s 18 year history.
The landmark delegation has welcomed new members including Far East Consortium, Property Alliance Group, Select Property Group, St Michael’s, and U+I, with applications to join still being accepted.
The Manchester at MIPIM Partnership is a private sector led initiative, bringing together leading organisations from across all branches of the property industry to promote the Manchester city-region as a globally competitive place to live, work, and invest. The partnership is coordinated by Marketing Manchester, with strategic leadership from Manchester City Council.
Last year Manchester was represented by 99 organisations and over 200 delegates; the second largest delegation out of 550 global cities attending.
The record achievement comes following the announcement in September that Manchester will be introducing significant new plans to expand its presence for 2017, including occupying a new venue with more space and better facilities than the city-region has ever had before. The new location will place Manchester alongside the global cities of London, Paris and St. Petersburg.
The Partnership also aims to attract more diverse audiences than previous years by increasing opportunities for members to get involved in this year’s programme of events. Six sessions have been opened for members to help shape, with the ambition of creating a more varied programme that demonstrates the strength of Manchester’s public-private partnership.
Sir Howard Bernstein, chief executive of Manchester City Council said: “Manchester has a long and proud history at MIPIM, much of the success of which is due to its strong public-private approach.
“Following an uncertain political year, it’s now more important than ever that we strengthen our commitment to the event. It’s imperative that the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership take this opportunity to prove that Manchester is an outward-thinking region that will to continue to work proactively with Europe and the rest of the world.”
Sheona Southern, managing director of Marketing Manchester said “MIPIM allows us the unique opportunity to tell the story of Manchester directly to a global audience. Through maintaining a strong annual presence we’re able to do untold work in promoting and furthering Manchester’s international profile.”
“Manchester is taking bold new strides to enhance its activity at this year’s MIPIM, so to have an unprecedented number of organisations supporting the Partnership is very encouraging. We’re now in a better position than ever to ensure that 2017 will be a historic year for the Manchester at MIPIM Partnership.”
Confirmed speakers for Manchester at MIPIM 2017 include senior leaders from Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin and Stockholm. Manchester’s full programme of events for MIPIM will be announced next month.
Manchester stand sessions will be streamed live from the Pavilion at www.manchesteratmipim.com.
MIPIM 2017 takes place from 14-17 March in Cannes, France.
