The Northwich Barons Quay development has welcomed its first openings with a host of well-known names securing prime slots at the development, which have been warmly welcomed by local residents who say they will breathe new life into the town and surrounding districts.
Wildwood Restaurants opened on Tuesday 20th December. Ahead of the opening the CEO of Wildwood Restaurants commented: “We are excited about opening our new Wildwood restaurant at Barons Quay. We know there is nothing like our restaurant available in Northwich at the moment and we look forward to showing Barons Quay customers some homely hospitality and to serving great food.”
Also in December ODEON opened the doors to its state-of-the-art five screen cinema in Northwich, just in time for the launch of highly anticipated blockbuster Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The new cinema features the latest technology, including a state-of-the-art ODEON-exclusive ISENSE screen, allowing guests to enjoy blockbusters on the cinema’s largest ultra-high-definition screen. ISENSE combines superior levels of big-picture quality, breath-taking immersive sound and all within an enhanced acoustic environment that caters for the optimum in guest seating comfort.
Commenting on the opening, Andy Elvis, General Manager at ODEON Northwich said: “We had a fantastic opening weekend and the team have already welcomed thousands of excited guests through our doors. We’re looking forward to the festive period and invite people to come down and share in the very biggest and best films with us this Christmas and into 2017!”
Other anchors at Barons Quay include ASDA which has opened a new store, taking a lease on 68,000 sq. ft with one of the few larger food format stores it has opened in the UK over the past year. The £15 million store, which includes a petrol forecourt, is creating 130 jobs, in a mixture of full and part time roles across all departments.
Leasing agents McMullen Wilson and LSH Manchester are now looking forward to the coming year, and signing up yet more high quality names for Barons Quay.
The retail and leisure town centre scheme covers an impressive 220,000 sq ft, part of which fronts onto the River Weaver. Decked car parking provides more than 900 free spaces for visitors.
Cllr Brian Clarke, Cheshire West and Chester Council cabinet member for economic development and infrastructure says: “I am completely confident that this new £80 million development is going to transform Northwich. The response from local residents to all the new openings we have had so far has been phenomenal. Northwich has been waiting for a boost like this for some time and we’re delighted to support this scheme which is helping transform Northwich for the better.”
