Gallan Parking has become the car park operator of choice for two major landowners after securing management deals to three top sites in Birmingham city centre.
The Gooch Estate and Wing Yip Developments have awarded the Gallan Group company contracts to manage two sites in Southside and one in Digbeth that together total 340 spaces.
The company, which now manages eight car parks in Birmingham with a total capacity of 832 spaces, is aiming to secure prestigious Park Mark safer parking awards for the sites by maintaining them to the highest standards of the British Parking Association.
Gallan Parking’s first-ever lease on a 186-space surface car park at Pershore Street in Southside has been renewed for five years after The Gooch Estate invested £50,000 in improvements including new lighting, CCTV, and disabled bays.
Gallan Parking has meanwhile invested £17,000 in enhancing an 81-bay indoor car park at Hurst Street at the heart of the city’s gay village after The Gooch Estate transferred its management to Gallan.
As well as branding and redecorating the facility, it has introduced regular security patrols, new CCTV equipment, better lighting and new pay machines.
Gallan Parking will also be managing a 79-space surface car park at 6 Coventry Street in a space incorporating 19th Century railway arches on the mainline route into Moor Street Station for the next three years on behalf of Wing Yip Developments.
Wing Yip and Chiltern Railways have ‘blacktopped’ the land for parking after the land had been used to carry out structural works to the viaduct.
Henry Yap, Wing Yip Managing Director, said: “Convenient parking is crucial to business success and this new well-designed car park is good news for shoppers, workers and commerce in Birmingham city centre.”
Charles Gillett, agent for The Gooch Estate, said: “Gallan Parking have proved to be excellent car park operators which is why they now look after six car parks for us throughout Birmingham city centre.”
Phillip Grant, Managing Director of Gallan Parking, commented: “We are delighted with the faith that landowners have placed in us as we aim to secure Park Mark safer parking accreditation for all our car parks.”
He added: “Not only do our car parks deliver increased footfall for shops, businesses and entertainment centres but they also produce a steady income stream for landowners and developers, as well as a more aesthetically pleasing environment.”
