St. Modwen’s Longbridge Town Centre is continuing to attract occupiers with the addition of high-street names Specsavers and Carphone Warehouse and local independent bike shop 3CJ Cycle Centre.
Specsavers – Britain’s largest high street opticians – is taking 1,550 sq ft of space at a rent of £45,000 per annum, while Carphone Warehouse is taking 775 sq ft at £23,500 per annum. Both stores have signed 10 year leases and are creating dozens of new full and part-time jobs.
3CJ Cycle Centre, which signed a 10 year lease at £17,000 per annum, is now open and joins existing Town Centre occupiers including Sainsbury’s, Costa Coffee, Subway, EE, Smyths Toys, Boots pharmacy and Holland and Barrett.
Open between 9.00am and 5.30pm Monday to Saturday, 3CJ Cycle Centre offers all aspects of cycle maintenance and customisation, from puncture repairs to bespoke bike design and build.
Mike Murray, Development Director at St. Modwen, said: “Specsavers, Carphone Warehouse and 3CJ Cycle Centre add to the already strong and varied mix of retailers in Longbridge Town Centre, helping to attract new visitors, shoppers and jobs to the area.
“Representing the growing demand for services in the area, 3CJ Cycle Centre is already open, and proving to be a success, while the fit out is well underway on the new Specsavers and Carphone Warehouse stores, which will be open in time for Christmas.”
On top of the thriving retail offer, St. Modwen is dedicated to supporting the growing community at Longbridge with a variety of events including a festive Christmas Market, which will take place on Saturday 10th December between 9am and 5pm. The event forms part of Longbridge Public Art Project’s (LPAP) Friends of Longbridge Open Spaces initiative, which seeks to support local events within the town centre.
Once the site of the former MG Rover plant, Longbridge is being transformed by St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, through a £1 billion regeneration project. £300 million has been invested to date, delivering hundreds of family homes along with shops, eateries, offices, the £66m Bournville College, Longbridge Technology Park and the three acre Austin Park. Work is well underway on the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM) Accommodation Building, whilst Longbridge Retirement Village is due to open in 2017.
