A Bristol-based furniture retailer has chosen Newport as the location for its first outlet in Wales, after negotiating a showroom rental from retail and leisure property specialists EJ Hales.
Middletons, a specialist in health specific furniture, has commenced trading at 219 Malpas Road in Newport as part of a long term plan to open 50 showrooms nationwide within the next five years.
Known for its range of bespoke, handmade rise and recliner chairs, adjustable beds, stair lifts and scooters, Middletons has signed a 10-year lease on the 3,250 sq ft retail unit.
Tim Brooksbank from Carter Jonas, who acted on behalf of Middletons in acquiring the site, said: “Middletons is thrilled to be able to have opened its first store in Wales and provide its offering outside of Bristol. The new location is the ideal size to showcase its products to customers.”
Philip Gwyther, partner at EJ Hales, who acted on behalf of the landlord said: “We are delighted to have secured Middletons, a quality retailer, for this prominent shop unit that benefits from a significant volume of passing traffic. The store occupies an excellent location adjacent to Junction 26 of the M4 Motorway, making it easily accessible from the M4 corridor.”
