Goodman, a global leader in the ownership, development and management of industrial property is pleased to announce the development of a new 260,000 sq ft build to suit distribution centre for Palletforce Ltd, a leading UK pallet network company.
The new facility will be built on a 16-acre site located immediately adjacent to Palletforce’s existing 379,400 sq ft distribution centre at Centrum Business Park at Burton upon Trent, which was developed by Goodman in 2009.
The new distribution centre will be directly linked to Palletforce’s existing facility. Construction began at the start of October and is expected to take 9 months with handover planned for mid-2017.
Palletforce have signed a 15 year lease on the new space.
The new property in Burton is Goodman’s second major development for Palletforce to date. Once combined, the two facilities will serve as Palletforce’s new national distribution centre. Jointly standing at 639,400 sq ft, the facility will represent the UK and Europe’s single largest palletised distribution hub.
Centrum Business Park is an established and successful location for logistics, set within an attractive working environment. It is home to leading national customers, including Boots, Marston, Scania, Holland & Barret, Coors, Automotive Group and Unipart (Waterstones).
The new distribution centre being developed by Goodman will operate 24-hrs a day and provide 260,000 sq ft of storage space, capable of processing in excess of 30,000 pallets for distribution across the UK and Continental Europe.
Commenting on the announcement, Goodman Development Director Nigel Dolan said: “We are very pleased to extend our relationship with Palletforce and have the opportunity to develop this important new facility, and play a role in the continued growth of their network.
Once complete, the new combined facility will be the largest of its kind in the UK and Europe and serves as a further example of Goodman’s ability to deliver best-in-class build to suit warehouse and distribution centre solutions in strategic locations for our growing portfolio of customers. We look forward to delivering this project for Palletforce and continuing our long and successful partnership.”
