Long-established bookmaker Betfred is moving to more central premises in Waterlooville.
The firm led the field to take a 10-year lease on a prime town centre shop at 3 The Boulevard, London Road.
Property consultancy Myddelton & Major successfully negotiated the deal for the property which had a quoting rent of £29,500 per annum.
Myddelton & Major Partner Simon Lee said: “Planning consent was recently granted and Betfred are relocating from elsewhere in town to this more central trading position.
“The company, founded in 1967 and now with almost 1,400 betting shops across the UK is a major player in this arm of the leisure industry and felt a more prominent site was needed to make them an odds-on favourite to attract new customers.”
The premises occupy a prime trading position fronting the pedestrian section of London Road, close to its junction with The Boulevard, which links to Dukes Walk.
There the shopping centre is anchored by Waitrose and Wilkinson, with other nearby retailers including Costa Coffee, Specsavers, Everything Everywhere, Halifax, W H Smith, Thomson and O2.
The 1210 sq ft (112.41 sq m) property comprises a ground floor shop unit with an extensive window frontage, together with an ancillary first floor storage area.
Myddelton & Major was named the most active agency in Wiltshire in 2015 for the fourth year running by Estates Gazette, the weekly and online magazine of the UK commercial property industry.
