Bilfinger GVA’s North West CPO team has been selected by Cheshire West and Chester Council as the CPO consultancy on a major scheme to redevelop a quarter of Chester city centre.
Chester Northgate will deliver a retail and leisure led mixed use development to include a new department store, cinema complex, new market hall and mixed retail, food and beverage units in a transformed streetscape.
Mike King, Senior Director in Bilfinger GVA’s Valuation Consultancy department in Manchester, and who heads the firm’s North West Compulsory Purchase and Compensation team said: “We are delighted, excited and privileged to be part of the team assembled by Cheshire West and Chester Council to deliver this prestigious development. Mike has more than 30 years’ experience in CPO work. He has contributed to some of Manchester and the region’s landmark CPOs and schemes, including being part of the task force set up to rebuild the centre of Manchester after the 1996 IRA bomb. He has also been involved in land assembly strategy for the evolution of the Metrolink serving the region for Transport for Greater Manchester.
Bilfinger GVA’s CPO team are currently acting as consultants on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, Halton Council/Mersey Gateway’s construction of a new six-lane toll bridge across the River Mersey between Widnes and Runcorn. They are also consultants on city centre and town centre retail lead regeneration schemes in Leeds and Warrington for Hammerson and Warrington Borough Council respectively.
