The CBI has joined forces with law firm Browne Jacobson to launch a new forum for medium sized businesses (MSBs) in the East Midlands.
The forum will provide the region’s mid-market companies with an exclusive networking platform to share knowledge, best practice and ideas, as well as the opportunity to discuss and learn about the issues that really matter to them from some of the region’s leading experts in their field.
The first of four events will take place on Tuesday 8 November at Browne Jacobson’s offices in Nottingham looking at building, protecting and enforcing your brand by discussing strategies to make sure these assets are properly protected and what you can do if the intellectual property of your brand is infringed.
This will be followed by events looking at the ever changing employment landscape, financial planning and the digital environment:
– 13 December 2016 – The employment policy landscape in a changing economic and political environment
– 7 February 2017 – Financial planning for growth
– 25 April 2017 – Digital awareness as you grow your business
Sarah Wood, Assistant Director at the CBI East Midlands, said:
“Scale-up firms are the unsung heroes of the UK economy – creating jobs, increasing investment and driving exports internationally. With seven out of ten companies located outside London, supporting these entrepreneurial and innovative firms to grow can really help drive prosperity across the UK, as shown here in the East Midlands.
“We are therefore delighted to be working in partnership with Browne Jacobson, providing practical support to MSBs in the region to help realise their ambitions.”
Jonathan Tardif, commercial disputes partner at Browne Jacobson and CBI regional councillor, added:
“The East Midlands has a dynamic business community and its medium sized businesses have always played a key role in the region’s prosperity. Unfortunately they probably haven’t had the levels of business support and credit they deserve, so we hope this new initiative will go some way towards addressing that.
“As a medium sized business ourselves we are alive to the challenges and issues similar businesses face on a daily basis. We, like the CBI, believe it is critical they get the support they need if we are to unlock their true long term growth potential.
“We are delighted to be working in partnership with the CBI in supporting the region’s flourishing MSBs.”
The events are open to all MSBs across the East Midlands with a turnover of between £10m and £500m. They are free to attend and will take place at Browne Jacobson’s Nottingham offices.
