A Bristol business leader has been awarded a prestigious national award ahead of some of the country’s leading entrepreneurs and directors.
Brady George, Managing Director of Almeda Facilities Ltd, was crowned national winner in the Leadership in Corporate Responsibility category at the Institute of Directors 2016 Director of the Year Awards UK.
The distinguished Leadership in Corporate Responsibility category was open to directors who were able to demonstrate that, through their direct actions and leadership, their business has made a positive impact on the local community, wider society and the environment.
The event was held at an awards ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel in Hyde Park. Brady saw off stiff competition from six inspiring directors from every region in the UK.
The judging panel was comprised of 30 esteemed individuals. Winners were those they felt best demonstrated excellence in financial performance and business growth, employee engagement, innovation, reputation management, corporate governance, personal achievements and education, as well as ethical behaviour and community engagement.
Brady became Managing Director of the family run firm in August 2015, taking over from his father Gary. He was previously Operations Director, after joining the company at the age of 23 and working in every role in the business. The judges were excited by Brady’s business plan for Almeda and how he had taken the business into new territory by developing and launching its catering division, food with passion.
Brady comments: “Words can’t describe what it means to win this national award. On a daily basis I am in awe of the whole Almeda family who work tirelessly to be a force for good, so it was an incredibly proud moment to accept this on their behalf. I’m inspired by all businesses that want and are creating positive difference in the world – this award is for all of them.”
IoD South West Chairman Nick Sturge comments: “In these times of economic upheaval – locally and globally – strong, entrepreneurial, resilient and informed leadership is essential to any organisation.
“I am very proud of all our winners and shortlisted candidates who have proved that this region has a real breadth and depth of talent, enterprise and leadership to rival the very best in the nation.”
This award follows a fantastic year for Almeda, who have, alongside a wealth of shortlists, have been awarded Customer Service Award from the Bristol Post, Most Outstanding in Facilities Manager from Corporate LiveWire, Employer of the Year from Business Leader and the regional award in Corporate Responsibility South West from the Institute of Directors.
