Zonal Retail Data Systems is set to expand its accommodation at Tanfield after signing a deal to sub-lease an additional 1,132 sq m (12,188 sq ft) suite within Rockspring’s modern office development. The firm was advised by Ryden and will sub-let the office space from FNZ, which retains its existing offices in the complex.
Zonal, which won the prestigious Scotland IS Digital Technology Awards earlier this year, required the additional accommodation as a result of growing staff numbers. It will now occupy a total of 3,065 sq m (32,988 sq ft) within Tanfield.
FNZ, the market leading provider of technology and investment administration services to the wealth management sector, will continue to occupy two large offices in Tanfield, totalling 25,800 sq ft, which it has leased since 2011. The 1,132 sq m sub-let area was not being utilised by FNZ
James McLean, property director at Zonal, stated: “Tanfield has been great for us and the building has been fundamental in enabling us to grow our business and portraying a professional image for both customers and staff. Our future investment plans involve some significant investment in staff numbers and the extra unit at Tanfield fitted the bill perfectly.”
Peter I’Anson, partner at Ryden who handled the lease negotiations, added: “It was back in 2014 when we secured Zonal’s original lease at Tanfield and it is great to see the firm grow and expand. I was pleased to advise the firm on their property solution for the next few years and to secure the firm’s additional space requirement at Tanfield. The office development provides an exciting and accessible office base and developer Rockspring is always investing in the property to ensure it meets the demand of today’s occupier. Most recently the common parts and external gardens at the building have been updated to reflect the calibre of occupiers at Tanfield.”
Zonal has evolved from a small Scottish business to a company that now employs over 480 people. It is the leading provider of integrated hospitality management solutions with over 9,000 customers, including Greene-King, Strada, Wetherpsoon and Mitchells and Butler.
Zonal was represented by Ryden and DWF. FNZ was advised by Dougray Smith and Montagu Evans.
