Following more than a year of careful reconstruction work, Morris Property is delighted to announce Shrewsbury’s Baptist Church is completed and once again ready to welcome parishioners.
Over 14 months, the skilled team of craftsmen at Morris Property rebuilt the town-centre church, carefully retaining and improving its historical façade, and reconstructing the interior to a high standard. The construction team worked in conjunction with archaeological consultants, Cotswold Archaeology, to ensure the restoration was in line with the site’s historical importance and any archaeological finds were recorded and preserved.
Senior Minister Charles Crosland, on behalf of Shrewsbury Baptist Church, said: “We worked closely with Morris Property to develop the refurbishment plan and we are delighted with the result. We are very excited about the increasing opportunities the new building gives us to continue to serve the people who live in, work in, or visit the centre of Shrewsbury.”
During reconstruction of the site, Morris Property worked to ensure the adjacent Barker Street car park was as fully functional as possible, with its central position providing parking for many town centre shoppers.
Liz Lowe, Head of Estates, Morris Property said: “We are very pleased to hand the premises over to Shrewsbury Baptist Church. Our thanks go to members of the Church, especially Charles Crosland and Associate Minister Steve Barnwell, as well as Mark McClavern from neighbouring Catalogue Surplus, with whom our team enjoyed a good working relationship.”
