Evans Property Group signs new restaurant operator for Leeds City Centre

Evans Property Group has completed a deal to open a new award winning restaurant at its Bond Court development in Leeds City Centre, with lease terms agreed to Tattu Bar and Restaurant.

Tattu has signed a 20 year lease for the 5,500 sq ft ground floor unit, providing 180 covers, with external seating beneath the Grade A Minerva office building.

Tattu will bring an entirely unique offering to the city of Leeds with an innovative take on the conceptual design, which takes inspiration from body art and its diverse history. The new venue will create a distinct customer journey, true to the style and influence of the original Manchester based Tattu, but with a distinctive twist exclusive to the Leeds venue.

The redevelopment of the two ground floor units forms part of Evans’ ongoing £25M investment programme which commenced with the extensive refurbishment of the Minerva and Capitol office buildings. Work is currently underway on the 95 bed 5*Dakota Deluxe hotel which will open in Spring 2017.

The announcement follows recent news that Living Ventures’ Blackhouse Grill restaurant and bar has committed to Bond Court with a 25 year lease extension after Evans secured planning permission from Leeds City Council to create a new terrace and introduce elevation improvements and Bond Court public realm works amounting to circa £1m.

Alan Syers, Portfolio Director at Evans Property Group, said; “The new restaurant has the right cosmopolitan feel to complement the new Dakota Deluxe hotel and will create a real sense of unity between East Parade, Bond Court and Greek Street.  By opening up the outside space, we can further enhance the significant public realm works that form part of the new hotel scheme. We have worked closely with Leeds City Council throughout the process to ensure that the whole project seamlessly blends together and the result will be a new restaurant with outstanding internal fit-outs and strong customer appeal.”

Adam Jones, owner and managing director of Tattu, added: “This is a hugely exciting development for the Tattu brand. We’ve been looking at several sites across the north of England but have been patient in finding the right location for our second venue. The plans for the development of Bond Court are very impressive and Evans Property Group has provided a fantastic service throughout. We’re looking forward to getting on site in the new year and creating a venue we hope Leeds will be proud of.”

Richard Shuttleworth, Director of Pudney Shuttleworth Retail and Leisure Property Consultants in Leeds added:

“We received a number of proposals for this fantastic unit following some very low key marketing. Tattu was without doubt the best operator with the most interesting concept and the most attractive and imaginative fit out.  This key letting for the East Parade and Greek Street area is the latest high profile occupier to commit to this part of the city centre, with other high profile lettings to be announced very shortly.

“The leisure property market in Leeds remains extremely buoyant, with demand for good units higher than at any point in the last 25 years.  This is to a large extent due to Leeds’ significantly improved profile over recent years and the excellent work between the public and private sectors to create a top flight vibrant and cosmopolitan city,” continued Richard.
