SGi Shepherd Gilmour, Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering outfit has landed a contract to work on Branston Locks, a 400-acre site to the south west of Burton-upon-Trent.
The £1 billion project includes 2,500 new homes and 92,900 sq m of employment space.
Retail and leisure offerings including an 80-bedroom hotel, a residential care home, primary school, community space and a new home for Burton rugby club are also part of the areas development strategy.
SGi Shepherd Gilmour was appointed by Birmingham based Nurton Developments, and has been involved in the development of this area of Burton on Trent for more than 25 years.
Emyr Jones, owner and director of Manchester based SGi Shepherd Gilmour, said all phase 1 infrastructure works are expected to be completed towards the end of next summer.
He added: “When my career started at SGi Shepherd Gilmour 26 years ago I worked on the scheme.
“I’m proud that SGi Shepherd Gilmour has been the only engineering company instructed on site during that time. I’ve seen it evolve over the years as part of the ongoing redevelopment in Burton.
“The irony that Branston Locks’ 26-year development plan starts this year is not lost on me and I hope it keeps me going into my retirement.”
