The Birmingham office of Mazars has strengthened its corporate and international tax team as a result of a 130 per cent increase in fee income in the past year.
Vesko Petkov, corporate and international tax partner and head of the UK firm’s German desk, said: “We have welcomed five new people to our international tax team in Birmingham over the last 12 months.
“With an increasingly globalised economy it is vital that we can deliver value to our clients across borders, and that will be even more important in the next three years.
The corporate and international tax team is now seven strong in Birmingham, with the addition of Saraswati Patel, corporate and international tax senior manager, who joined from Jaguar Land Rover, having previously worked at a Big 4 accountancy firm, and Rachel Aston, international tax manager, from one of the Big Four accountancy firms.
They join Stephen Dennett, corporate and international senior manager, who arrived last year from an industry role with a US listed group, having also had previous experience at a Big Four firm.
A recent success for the team was helping Teupen Maschinenbau GmbH manufacturers of premium tracked mobile elevated work platforms, establish a UK arm in Bromsgrove, meeting all their UK tax requirements and optimising their tax position, all of which produced a £200,000 saving off the German company’s annual tax bill.
