One of the Midlands fastest growing engineering consultancies, M-EC has opened a fourth regional office.
M-EC has taken a 500 sq ft space in the heart of the city at the Nottingham Sustainability & Enterprise Centre (NSEC), part of New College Nottingham. The new office becomes the fourth premises for the business, which has further regional offices in Birmingham and Milton Keynes alongside its head office in Ibstock, Leicestershire.
“This time last year, we took the decision to open Birmingham and Milton Keynes and both offices have since been thriving,” explained managing director, Eddie Mewies. “Encouraged by this growth, we’ve opened Nottingham to better serve our North Midlands clients.”
Overseeing the new Nottingham office is associate director, Gary Bridges, a civil engineering professional with over 35 years’ experience. Gary is joined by Wayne Oakes, Peter Collings and Ricardo Vendone as well as apprentices, Laura Dance and Connor Kilner, who will complete their academic qualifications at New College Nottingham. Together the team will initially focus on geomatics, infrastructure and civils, although access to M-EC’s full spectrum of engineering services is available.
“It’s been a great experience so far and we’re really starting to develop a good network in Nottingham,” said Gary. “Some of our newest projects are in the city and county on behalf of Nottingham-based businesses. Also, our clients seem to like the fact we have close links with the college and in addition to having our apprentices study there, we’re hoping to guest lecture on the engineering courses.”
Further vacancies are expected in civil engineering and geomatics with the aim of having a team of ten working in Nottingham by the end of the year. Across the group, M-EC currently employs 66 people.
M-EC will be officially launching its Nottingham office with a drinks reception at The Riverbank Bar & Kitchen, West Bridgford on Thursday 3rd November.
