Leading property consultancy CBRE has announced it has acquired a new unit in Aberdeen’s city centre on behalf of Five Guys.
Five Guys, the fast casual restaurant chain focused on hamburgers, hot dogs and French fries, has taken space at 1-7 St Nicholas Street in Aberdeen, formerly occupied by GAP. It is located between Union Street and the main entrance to the St Nicholas/Bon Accord Centre. The large shop has been sub-divided by the landlord, Legal and General, and Five Guys will be occupying unit 2, which is the block’s most prominent unit, extending to approximately 4,000 sq ft over the ground, first and second levels.
Five Guys has taken the unit on a 20 year lease subject to five yearly rent reviews at a rental of £225,000 per annum.
Callum Mortimer, director in CBRE’s Retail team, represented Five Guys. Callum said: “It is great news that we have been able to secure such a prominent unit for Five Guys within the city centre. As high street locations go in Aberdeen, this is the ideal spot for its business and will allow the restaurant to have highly desired seating outside the shop. Footfall remains high all year round, and with the quality of other tenants within the block as well as the draw of the well-established Bon Accord/St Nicholas Centre, I am confident Five Guys will be a real success in such a key retail location.”
Richard Collier of Five Guys added: “We’re thrilled to announce the opening of Five Guys on St Nicholas Street this October in Aberdeen. The restaurant will be our 52nd opening in the UK and we’re looking forward to launch day on Monday 10th October. St Nicholas Street is always jam packed with shoppers, so now we can become the burger of choice when visiting for a spot of retail therapy. Being a university city, we expect our new restaurant will become a busy hub for students and families alike.”
CBRE represented Five Guys whilst BNP Paribas represented the landlord, Legal and General.
