Following the recent merger between law firms Ashfords LLP and London-based Rochman Landau, lawyers at the newly enlarged practice have received recognition in this year’s edition of Chambers Global, the international version of the valued reference bible for those seeking quality legal services.
Koichiro Nakada, Partner, and Liza Zucconi, Solicitor, were both mentioned as notable practitioners in the guide, which is respected industry wide through the independence and objectivity of its research.
Koichiro, a Japanese-qualified lawyer, who heads the firm’s Japan Business Group, was named as a notable practitioner in the practice areas Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions: Experts Based Abroad, and Employment: Foreign Experts and has over 30 years experience, focussing particularly on International Business including Company, Commercial, Employment and Immigration Law. Prior to joining Rochman Landau he helped to establish the Japan desk at a magic circle firm. He acts as the Honorary President of the British Japanese Law Association.
Liza, who heads the firm’s Italian desk and Spanish desk, was named as a notable practitioner in the practice areas of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions: Foreign Experts UK, and Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions: Experts Based Abroad (Spain and Italy). Liza’s principal focus lies in a mixture of corporate and commercial law, and she is a member of both the British Spanish Law Association and the British Italian Law Association. She was part of the committee at the Law Society that set up the British Spanish Law Association and sat on the Executive committee for six years.
Chambers is compiled through interviews with thousands of lawyers and their clients. The outcome is the definitive guide to the legal profession by lawyer, practice area and region.
Koichiro Nakada said: “I am delighted to have been mentioned as a notable practitioner in a global legal guide. I feel this is a reflection of the expertise that the Japan Business Group has across the board, providing tailor made advice to clients across a number of different sectors, as well as advising Japanese businesses on English and European law. I am very pleased that we have now teamed with the specialists at Ashfords LLP, who also have extensive expertise in advising international clients.”
Liza Zucconi said: “The award is first and foremost a recognition of all those who established and contributed to the Italian and Spanish departments. It’s also a reward for the unfailing commitment and international vision of the firm, which is confirmed by the merger. On a personal level I am honoured to be recognised and I look forward to further developing the International aspects of the practice.”
Commenting on the achievements, Ian Daniells, Chief Executive at Ashfords, said:
“It is excellent news that two of our new colleagues have enjoyed the distinction of being recognised by a prestigious global legal guide. This is a good reflection of the quality of the international capabilities and expertise that we have across the firm, and is especially positive news in light of the fact that our workload from abroad is increasing.”
