Responding to the decision to refuse outline planning for the £105m Firepool scheme, Pete Davies, Senior Development Manager for St. Modwen, said:
“We are extremely disappointed with the recent planning committee’s refusal to approve our outline plans for Firepool. These plans reflect many years of hard work to make Firepool regeneration a reality with our development partner, Taunton Deane Borough Council and were received very positively in the pre-application public consultation which confirmed a shared desire to see the scheme delivered without delay. Firepool is a vital link in the chain of Taunton’s wider regeneration plans, with the potential to create in excess of 1,700 jobs as well as one of the largest mixed-use schemes in the South West.
“We will now undertake a full review of the main reasons behind the outline planning rejection and work with our development partner, Taunton Deane Borough Council, to agree the best way to progress in light of this decision.”
