Ian Baxter, chairman and founder of Baxter Freight will be the guest speaker at the Nottingham City Business Club lunch taking place on Friday 16 September at the Park Plaza hotel.
Ian Baxter is a former project finance lawyer who took over the helm of freight business The RH Group Ltd in 1995. He led the £30m turnover company, established by his father in 1971, through a period of generational and cultural change followed by significant expansion.
Ian led a buyout with his brother in 2005 and then sold the business to Kuehne + Nagel in 2011. By then the company employed 700 staff and had annual sales of £150m. Ian re-joined the freight industry by starting Baxter Freight in 2014. The new business currently employs 50 people and has a turnover of £10m.
At the lunch Ian will tell the story of the twists and turns of his career and explain how people can contribute to building a better, more sustainable capitalism in the future.
“This should be a really interesting and informative talk,” said James Simmonds, president of the Nottingham City Business Club. “We are looking forward to hearing about how he took the RH Group to a £150m turnover business and also the new company that he set up and runs. He should provide our members with some great insights into running successful businesses.”
Registration opens at 11:45am with the lunch starting at 12.30pm. It costs £23.50 for members and £37.50 for non members. To book a place, visit the NCBC website.
