Following their Series A funding announcement of £5 million in June, coworking offices firm, Techspace has announced its first expansion, using these funds. It will open a six floor space with 450 workstations on Leman Street, Aldgate, East London, with the property reaching 27,000 square feet.
Techspace is seeking to tap into an area experiencing fast growth by supporting high growth, Series A funded technology companies with a new flexible coworking space specifically for firms with 30 to 100 employees. Aldgate is expected to have a bright future due to a very healthy pipeline of development (both residential and commercial), making it a desirable area to live and work, while both Uber, General Assembly and leading video ad-tech company Unruly Media have recently moved their headquarters to the area.
Leman Street will notably offer ‘enterprise memberships’, offering self-contained floors to firms, allowing companies to brand their space and have exclusive access to meeting rooms and kitchens. This provides companies with the opportunity to develop their company culture without committing to restrictive leaseholds. In addition, Techspace offers it’s members access to an entire community, facilitating connections via its online and offline networks.
Co-founded by serial entrepreneurs David Galsworthy (CEO) and Alex Rabarts (CTO) in 2012, Techspace not only supports small tech startups, but also larger, more established companies by helping them to bridge the ‘scale-up gap’ through offering sustainable, flexible space that adapts to their growth. Techspace currently houses Virgin Media Techstars, Business Insider, Squawka and Growth Street among its community of tech startups and scale-ups.
David Galsworthy, CEO and cofounder of Techspace said: “With a host of new amenities being built for Aldgate, the expansion to Leman Street is a natural progression for us. It is a vibrant area that has already seen a number of tech giants move in recently and we expect demand to continue to grow as London remains a premier location for technology companies to operate in.”
“By offering new enterprise memberships we’re enabling tech companies to finally personalise a coworking space and make it their home.”
