Acting on behalf of RSM Restructuring Advisory LLP, CBRE’s Manchester Planning and Development team has secured detailed consent from Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council to transform a former munitions factory site on Roman Road into a 49,000 sq ft employment scheme.
The 4.5 acre redundant site in Lower Darwen is situated in a Primary Employment Area so is well suited for the development of employment buildings. The planning permission allows for the creation of three separate buildings totalling 49,000 sq ft, to be utilised for research and development, light industrial or storage and distribution use.
The new development will bring the site back into life, having been vacant for a number of years since the closure of the former munitions factory. The modern employment units will have capacity to deliver approximately 97 full-time jobs, as well as spin-off opportunities associated with construction, making a significant contribution to the local economy.
Edward Harvey, Senior Planner at CBRE’s Manchester office, said; “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for the regeneration of this disused site. The scheme will have direct regeneration benefits for the local area through the creation of employment opportunities associated with the construction and operation of the development.”
WHR are the appointed agents for the site.
