A leading financial specialist is targeting a record year after relocating to a prestigious site in Birmingham.
Margetts Wealth Management, which offers investment, estate, retirement, tax and corporate business advice, has moved into a 2100 sq ft office in St Paul’s Square as part of an expansion drive that will see it hit in excess of £1million fees by the end of 2016.
The firm has enjoyed 20% year-on-year growth since 2014 and now looks after more than 150 clients, including business owners, professional footballers, a racing driver, doctors and a string of popular restaurants.
Managing Director and well-known independent financial adviser Kevin Smith believes the company’s success has been due to its ability to offer financial planning that is tailored to the individual, including meeting current hot topics such as pensions freedoms, auto-enrolment and exit strategies for bosses of small to medium sized enterprises.
“This is a great move for our business and gives us double the space we had previously, dedicated meeting rooms and access to state-of-the-art IT infrastructure,” explained Kevin, who took over at Margetts Wealth Management in 2012.
“More importantly, the location places us at the heart of our client base and gives us easy access to accountants, lawyers and other professional service organisations who trust us to look after the financial affairs of their clients.”
He continued: “We are passionate about our West Midlands roots, with 80% of the individuals and businesses we represent based here. It’s also a great time to be investing in Birmingham, with the regeneration work taking place, big companies moving here and the prospect of HS2 on the horizon.”
Margetts Wealth Management currently employs four experienced IFAs at its St Paul’s office, backed by up significant administrative support.
It offers new clients an independent financial review that provides an initial insight into short, medium and long-term planning requirements.
Using more than 75 years’ combined experience, the firm will then work with the individual/business owner to identify where they need support and expert advice…this could be on investments, retirement planning, protection, trusts and estates, succession planning or accelerating exit strategies for business owners.
“We don’t want thousands of clients, that’s not the way we operate,” explained Kevin.
“Most people come to us when they have a specific issue and it is our job to not only offer them a solution for that, but to take a more holistic approach to their long-term financial planning.”
He concluded: “That’s what makes us different to other IFAs. We want to be with the client through the entire journey and all of life’s big events. Give them the opportunity to plan for every eventuality and, when those moments arise, ensure they have easy access to their money.”
Margetts Wealth Management recorded £950,000 in client fees last year and expects to take that past £1m in 2016. This will involve the recruitment of an additional three people to work at its new Birmingham office.
