A leading Shropshire contractor has been awarded its first contract by Telford & Wrekin Council to build a 30,000 sqft warehouse unit at Hortonwood West.
The £1.75 million contract was awarded to Morris Property, from Shrewsbury, to construct and build a new phase of development at Telford’s Hortonwood Industrial Estate.
The shell-only unit is a speculative scheme and will be fitted out when occupiers are agreed.
James West, Head of Property at Morris Property, said: “We submitted a competitive tender to secure the contract, which is our first for Telford & Wrekin Council. We have since worked with the Council to simplify the design and make it more flexible for other potential users.
“It has saved approximately £250,000 on the proposed costs and reduced the building programme by two months.”
Morris Property has also recently appointed Dave Fletcher as site manager to oversee the project.
James West added: “We have a reputation for delivering high quality work and for forming strong partnerships with our clients.
“Telford & Wrekin Council chose us following our work at the T54 business park with Filtermist International and AXYZ International. This allowed us to demonstrate our expertise and track record of delivering innovative solutions to get developments built on time and in budget.”
Morris Property has just completed its third project at the leading T54 business park, situated off Junction 2 of the M54, a 10,000 sqft production area and offices for Torus Measurement Systems.
Works have already progressed at Hortonwood West and the units will be completed mid-October.
