Core has appointed Emily Drane as its first graduate trainee.
Emily was recruited by Core following two weeks’ work experience with the company, which included time spent working with the design studio, PR and marketing teams.
Prior to her work experience, Emily was undertaking a two month internship at regeneration specialists St. Modwen, following the completion of her degree course at the University of Birmingham.
Emily said: “I met Juliet from Core at one of the St. Modwen marketing meetings and asked her if I could come for a day’s work experience to get a feel for an agency. I loved it so much that after I finished my internship at St. Modwen, I contacted Core to see if I could come back for a further two weeks.
“It was my dream job and after so many months of tearing my hair out over what I should do after I finished my degree, I felt like I was finally sorted and knew exactly what I wanted to do. It’s been a bit of a fairy tale and I’ve loved every minute.”
Before being offered the role with Core, Emily was scheduled to spend a ski season in France as a chalet host, presenting her with a hard decision.
Juliet Collings, Managing Director, Core, said: “We recognised Emily’s potential at an extremely early stage and knew that she would be a truly fantastic fit with the company. I’d like to think that core made the right impression on her, especially considering that she was meant to be going to France for a ski season after completing her work experience and chose to stay with us.
“I’m genuinely delighted that she chose to join Core and I believe that she will continue to be a valued member of our team.”
Emily is now developing marketing material for a number of clients, which includes websites design, development of brochures and signage, and planning events.
